This class is for women only. In this course, the teacher gives tafseer and contemplations of Surah Al-Fatiha and Juzz 30 and support students memorize them while respecting the rules of Tajweed.

Hafiz and Licensed

Dr. Amira Muhammad memorizes the whole Quran and holds two licenses in its recitation, the first license is according to Hafs an Asim and the second is according to Shu'bah an Asim, and currently on her way to obtain a third license according to Qaloon. She also succeeded with distinction and with the first rank in specialized courses in Islamic sciences and the sciences of the Noble Qur’an, and she obtained a certificate in the first level Tajweed of the Noble Qur’an and she is on her way to obtain a certificate at the second level Tajweed. Professionally, Dr. Amira obtained a Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Department of Computer Science (from the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt) in 2000, then she obtained a master's degree and then a PhD degree in Engineering - Computer Science (from the Faculty of Engineering - Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt), in 2004 and 2011 respectively, where she worked in both degrees on the development of secret encryption for watermarking of digital photos. She has three years of university teaching experience. On top of that, she is a wife and a mother. The Muslim community of Quebec (QMC-CMQ) is very honored to have a teacher like Dr. Amira. الدكتورة أميرة محمد، حافظة لكتاب الله كاملاً وحاصلة على إجازتين في القرآن الكريم الأولى برواية حفص عن عاصم والأخرى برواية شعبة عن عاصم وحاليا في طريقها للحصول على إجازة ثالثة في القرآن الكريم برواية قالون. كما أنها اجتازت بتقدير امتياز وحصلت على المراكز الأول في الدورات المتخصصة في العلوم الشرعية وعلوم القرآن الكريم وحصلت على شهادة في تجويد القرآن الكريم المستوى الاول وهى في طريقها في للحصول على شهادة في المستوى الثانى... من الناحية المهنية، الدكتورة أميرة حاصلة على بكالوريوس في الهندسة – قسم علوم الحاسب الآلي (من كلية الهندسة – جامعة عين شمس) في2000 ثم حصلت على درجة الماجستير ثم الدكتوراة في الهندسة - علوم الحاسب الآلي (من كلية الهندسة – جامعة عين شمس)، في 2004 ثم في 2011 على الترتيب، حيث عملت في كلتا الدرجتين على تطوير التشفير السري للصور الرقمية بالعلامات المائية. وهي مع ذلك زوجة ولديها أطفال. لها خبرة في التدريس الجامعي لثلاث سنوات. تشرف الجالية المسلمة في كيبيك كثيرا بأن يكون لديها معلمة للقرآن الكريم كمثل الدكتورة أميرة.

Quran Memorization Contest

Details of the Contest

Exams will be held right after Ramadan and Eid on 16 May 2021.

The following will be considered in the exam:

  1. Level of perfection of memorization.
  2. Level of perfection of phonetic recitation rules (Tajweed).
  3. For equity and inclusion, non-arabophone applicants will be put in a group separate from arabophones and will be ranked within each group and winners from each group will be awarded prizes.

Recitation Circle – Females

One hour

This circle is for females only. In this circle, the teacher teaches one rule of Tajweed in the first third of the class time. The remining two thirds are left for practice where attendees have the opportunity to apply the rules they learned. The meeting is virtual where the course material and the Quran pages are displayed on the screen and the attendees recite the displayed verses. Their recitation is corrected as needed for each reciter with while explaining the rules directly on the screen. In every round, each person recites about one page. In the one hour time given to this activity, every person recites 2-3 times in average.

This circle is in fact the extension of a previous Tajweed course. The same members who attended the course are now practicing and applying the rules they learned in this recitation circle. The meeting is virtual where the Quran pages are displayed on the screen and the attendees read the dispalyed verses. Their recitation is corrected as needed for each reciter with a possibility of explaining some rules directly on the screen. In every round, each person recites about one page. In the one hour time given to this activity, every person recites 2-3 times.

Ahmed Lotfy Rashed was born in Egypt and raised in Maryland. He studied physics at the University of Maryland. He has been the head instructor for the local Islam 101 class since 2006 and WhyIslam.org since 2009. He has presented Islam at schools and churches, and he has hosted visits to several major mosques in the area. He is the author of the Book series “What would a Muslim Say".
